Looking To End The Mommy Wars

Here is my contribution to end the strife once and for good. The good-enough mother movement!

Happy Friday, and take it easy on yourself. You are most likely a perfectly good-enough parent.

Great article! Summed up so many of my own thoughts on the whole mommy/life/balance thing.

Love your blog - you are funny as hell. We share some similarites - My daughter is named Maggie as well and is 18 months old. I am the oldest of 4 girls (though I think you have a brother or two) and am 35 and am a working mom. However, I live in Wash DC and married to an irishman, not a dutchman. Yay! Thanks for the link! I have embraced "good enough" and I think I am a better mom for it. Wouldn't the world be lovely if we celebrate each other for this?!?

I'm not a parent yet. Trying, though! I truly hope that I will adopt this philosophy when I do become a mother.
I'd like to canvas all the moms I know and ask them to tell me the one thing they wish they had known when they were a new parent. There is so much wisdom to be gained from each other, it seems foolish to tear each other down instead of sharing that wealth of knowledge.

"It seems that as mothers, sometimes our choices are reduced to the following: Shitty, and crappy. Pick your prize!"

I've said it before, and I'll say it again--you are the only mommy I "know" who dosen't scare me with all the things I don't know about kids.

Thanks for keeping it real! :)

I wish that this article had been around when I had my son six months ago. I went through such a depression over it all. I went into pregnancy a self-labelled liberal- pro breastfeeding and attachment parenting. I came out the other end of pregnancy and parenting a moderate on nearly everything parental and an avid woman-supporter- ALL women and the choices they make. Thanks for the fantastic article. May it save many moms from tears, depression and guilt. And may it also open the minds of extreme moms everywhere!
